Finding Our Magic in the Mile High City: A NatCon 2026 Recap

Listen, I know how it goes. You spend months preparing, packing up your hopes and your best recovery gear, and then suddenly you’re in the middle of a whirlwind like NatCon 2026 in Denver. We spent this past Monday and Tuesday soaking up every ounce of energy in that room, and let me tell you, my heart is absolutely full.

What Does Hope Mean to You?

We did something a little different at our booth this year. We didn’t just want to talk at people; we wanted to hear from you. We asked everyone who stopped by a simple question: “What does hope mean to you?” The responses were, quite frankly, a kaleidoscope of human resilience. We spoke to at least 200 beautiful souls who are out there every day doing the hard work of growing, learning, and teaching within the peer support world. Whether it was a quiet whisper about surviving a tough year or a shout of joy about a breakthrough with a client, those moments reminded us why we’ve been at this for 20 years.

New Tools for the Journey

One of the biggest highlights was seeing your faces light up when we talked about the Supervision Support Toolkit. Specifically, so many of you shared that managing the “unpredictables” of a peer workforce can feel a bit blurry. We’re re-tooling this kit to give supervisors a roadmap to lead with heart and clarity. Furthermore, if you missed the pre-order at the booth, you can still grab it for $150—which is half off the full release price coming this July!

We also had our Recovery Journals on display, and they were a hit. These aren’t just notebooks; they are spaces to reconnect with your strengths. Because at the end of the day, small things make a big difference in how we navigate our internal truths.

Expanding the Conversation

I also had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Row Partners for a vodcast episode. We dove deep into what it means to be a “Spokesperson for Hope” and how we weave SAMHSA’s Guiding Principles into everything from the front office to the clinical team.

Ultimately, my mission is to inspire you to keep working your magic for another year. If your agency or conference needs a spark, I am out here giving keynotes that are passionate, authentic, and—if I do say so myself—really funny.
